I completed my senior residency in Medical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. Tata Memorial sees more cancer patients than almost any hospital in Asia. The case volumes, the complexity, the protocols used there are at the level of the best cancer centres internationally. What that training gave me was not just knowledge of protocols. It was the ability to manage difficult cases, to think through complex treatment decisions, and to know when the standard approach is insufficient and something more is needed.

The MRCP SCE in Medical Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians in London is an examination taken by oncologists across the UK and internationally. Passing it means being examined on the same evidence-based standards as oncologists in the UK National Health Service. It is not a participation certificate. It tests current knowledge of chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and the rapidly evolving evidence base in oncology. I hold it because I believe the patients I see deserve a doctor who is examined against international standards.
